Jonathan moved to Northwest Indiana from Queens, NYC, to attend Hyles-Anderson College in 2004 while Becky was becoming a high school senior. Though he began attending the same church, First Baptist Church of Hammond, as she grew up attending her entire life, Jon did not know who Becky was, nor did Becky know who Jon was. Becky chose to attend the same college the next year; they both officially met during Jon's sophomore year. He first really "noticed" Becky's in November of 2004 during a bus ministry activity at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. That's when it all started.

 

Jon and Becky's first date was a Christmas Lights activity at downtown Chicago in December of 2004. Though he faced a couple of obstacles during his pursuit, he decided that he did not want to date any other girl other than Becky. They finally began dating exclusively in July 2005 and have been happily dating ever since!

 

 

Having dated for nearly three years, Jon felt it was time to start looking for an engagement ring and exploring ways to propose. After a dozen trips to eight or nine jewelers and more-than-enough rundowns of the "Four C's of Diamonds," he finally found the perfect diamond! Becky and her friend, Esther, had decided to take a week vacation to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in August, a few months back. Esther and Jon both felt that Cape Cod would be a great place to get engaged.On August 10, 2009, Jon and his friend, Tom, flew to New Hampshire and drove down to Cape Cod. As the sun was setting that beautiful evening by the beach, Jon surprised Becky from behind as she was watching the sun set, got on one knee, and proposed. Surprised and ecstatic, Becky nodded and said, "Yes!" Tom was able to capture the entire event on video.

 

After 3+ years of dating, Jon and Becky are finally scheduled to get married on Saturday, January 9, 2010!
